Lacrosse Thumps Longwood, 15-6

FARMVILLE, Va. – Old Dominion University lacrosse got a career-high five goals from Maddie Mullenbach and three more from Ali Mills to cruise to a 15-6 win on Saturday at Longwood.

"Great team win tonight," ODU head coach Heather Holt said. "We played consistently throughout the whole game and had a couple of our younger players make big plays! This team is growing and getting better each game. We are learning from our mistakes and making changes. So happy for a great road win."
 
Old Dominion (2-3) led 8-4 at halftime, and after a goal from Longwood to make the score 8-5, Mullenbach pushed ODU's lead back to 9-5 a few minutes later. Mullenbach added another before Claire Libby make the score 10-6 Monarchs. Mullenbach added two more and the rout was on.
 
Ali Mills scored two-straight to make the score 14-6 and Sydney Taylor added her second of the game for the 15-6 final.
 
Moira Olexa began the scoring with a goal in the first and the teams traded goals until Lilly Siskind and Caroline Shaefer sandwiched goals to give the Monarchs a 5-2 lead.
 
ODU pushed its lead to 7-2 with goals from Shaefer and Mullenbach. Longwood added another but Sydney Taylor put the Monarchs on top 8-3 before Longwood scored the final two goals of the first half.
 
Mullenbach and Mills totaled career-highs in goals with five and three respectively, while Siskind had two goals and an assist and Shaefer and Taylor scored two apiece.
 
Jenna Peccia made 13 saves to earn her second win of the year between the pipes.
 
The Monarchs complete their three-game road trip at Liberty on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
