NORFOLK, Va. – Nick Pantos and Jason Hartline combined to strikeout 17 Binghamton hitters and Old Dominion clawed out a 5-2 win Saturday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Ballpark.

Pantos earned the win tossing five shutout innings with nine strikeouts and Hartline notched the save striking out a career-high eight in 3.2 innings.

Old Dominion (4-1) got on the board in the first. Kenny Levari reached on an error by the second baseman and moved to third on a bunt single and error by the third baseman. Andy Garriola followed with a sacrifice fly to score Levari.

ODU scored a pair in the fourth as Garriola led off with a double. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Robbie Petracci sac fly. After a Tommy Bell triple, Jared Hancock doubled in Bell to make the score 3-0.

Binghamton closed the gap to 3-2 in the top of the six with a pair of bases loaded walks. The Monarchs' one-run lead was short-lived as Jared Hancock delivered his own bases loaded walk and Thomas Wheeler followed with ODU's third sac fly of the game.

Hartline slammed the door in the final three frames, striking out seven in the process.

The two teams battle in the rubber game at The Bud tomorrow at 1 p.m.
