PALM CITY, Fla. – The Old Dominion men's golf team finished tied for eighth, and Jakob Henriksson placed in a tie for 20th at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at the par-72, 7,169-yard Hammock Creek Golf Club.
The Monarchs carded a 9-over 297 on the final day to finish the three rounds with a 25-over-par score of 889 and were just four shots back of the top-five. ODU was the third-best team on the par-3 holes, finishing at 8-over, and had 37 total birdies.
Henriksson shot a final-round 74 (+2) to finish tied for 20th at 4-over 220. Rasmus Konradsson turned in a third consecutive 74 on Tuesday for a three-day total of 222 (+6) and a share of 27th. Joining Konradsson in a tie for 27th was Kazuki Yamauchi, who shot a second straight 73 for his best tournament finish as a Monarch.
Gustav Fransson (T47th) and Jakob Chicoyne (T83rd) rounded out the five for ODU.
UNCG, the host school, won the team competition at 6-over 870. George Mason's J.P. Miller shot a final-round 69 to claim individual medalist honors at 208 (-8).
The Monarchs leave the continental United States for the first time in a decade for the Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The tournament runs Feb. 27 through March 1.
