LAS VEGAS – Federica Torre sits in a tie for ninth place, and the Old Dominion women's golf team is tied for 10th after the first day of The Show at Spanish Trail at the par-72, 6,400-yard Spanish Trail Country Club.

"We could have played a little better today," head coach Mallory Kane said. "Everyone felt like they left a few shots out there. We made enough birdies to be closer to the top of the leaderboard. We will work to clean up some of the unforced errors and be better tomorrow. This is a great group, and we know we are capable of playing better."

Torre matched her season best with a 3-under 69 in the afternoon session, carding five birdies. She opened the day with a 74 in the first round. The native of Ranco Scrivia, Italy is tied for fourth in par-4 scoring (-1) and tied for the ninth-most birdies with seven.

Jana Melichova logged a sixth consecutive round under par on Monday morning with a 2-under 70 but suffered a setback in the second round. The senior was 1-over with six holes to play in the first round before finishing with birdies on three of her last four holes. In the second round, she carded back-to-back birdies on the 18th and 1st holes to nullify a double-bogey on the 17th but dropped shots on the fifth, sixth and 10th holes for a 3-over 75. She currently sits tied for 22nd at 1-over 145.

Sarah Busey went 75-76 on Monday for a share of 57th. Leah Onosato and Pilar Muguruza are one stroke behind Busey in a tie for 62nd.

The Monarchs are tied for the third-best score on the courses par-3 holes at 3-over. ODU's 25 birdies through two rounds are the fifth-most among the field of 16 teams.

The two-day even wraps up tomorrow with an 11 a.m. ET shotgun start.
