PALM CITY, Fla. – The Old Dominion men's golf team is tied for 15th at 9-over 297 following the first round of the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at the par-72, 7,169-yard Hammock Creek Golf Club.
Gustav Fransson paced the Monarchs in the first round, carding a 1-over 73 to earn a share of 38th. The senior from Umea, Sweden was 4-over after 10 holes but posted three straight birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes.
Rasmus Konradsson and Jakob Henriksson sit in a tie for 47th at 2-over 74, and Jakob Chicoyne and Kazuki Yamauchi are tied for 73rd at 76 (+4).
Creighton, Western Carolina and Mercer are tied atop the team leaderboard at 4-under (284). Wofford (-3) and Valparaiso (-1) are the only other teams under par after one round.
Kamaren Cunningham of Murray State shot an opening-round 66 (-6) and leads the field. Iona's Garrett Giles is one stroke behind, and five individuals are tied for third at 4-under.
Play at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate resumes Monday morning.
