NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's tennis team is set for the 2021 Conference USA Championships held in Charlotte, N.C. on April 23-25. The Monarchs earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 7 seed Rice in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 23 at 10 a.m. EST.
The Monarchs (10-9) have claimed victory in six of their last eight matches, as well as 10 of their last 14 matches. In their last seven matches, the Monarchs have outscored their opponents 31-16.
The eight-team single-elimination championship format will consist of four quarterfinal matches on day one, two semifinal matches on day two and the championship final on day three. Matches will consist of six singles and three doubles. Doubles will be played first, followed by singles. Singles matches are two out of three sets, while doubles are a six-game proset, no-AD scoring. The winner earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
