NORFOLK, Va. – Andy Garriola, Lincoln Ransom, and Kyle Battle each hit home runs as the Old Dominion University baseball team defeated William & Mary 8-2 in a mid-week contest Wednesday night in Williamsburg.

"We pitched and played good defense tonight. It's always good to get a road win," ODU head coach Chris Finwood said. "Garriola, Battle and Ransom had big home runs for us. I was proud of our effort."

Garriola put the Monarchs on top 3-0 in the first with a three-run homer. Ryan Teschko reached on a hit by pitch, and Carter Trice followed with a walk before Garriola's homer. Matt Coutney walked after Garriola's homer and scored on an RBI double from Ransom for a four-run first inning.

Ransom led off the sixth inning with a home run to center field, the first of his collegiate career. Tommy Bell delivered a one-out single, as did Jared Hancock to put runners on first and third. Battled followed with a three-run homer for ODU's second four-run inning of the game.

The Tribe tacked on two runs in the ninth for the final 8-2 tally.
