NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's basketball team wraps up its three-game season-opening homestand on Thursday, when it hosts George Washington for a 6:30 p.m. tip. The game is streaming live on CUSA.tv and will be carried over the airwaves on Money Talk 1310 AM, 100.9 FM and 97.3 HD2.

The Starting Five
The Monarchs look for their third 3-0 start in the past four seasons when they host George Washington on Thursday. ODU also won the first three games of the season in 2018-19 and 2019-20. Prior to that, the Monarchs had not won the first three games of a season since 2012-13.

Thursday's clash with GW is a rematch of last season's opener. The Colonials won 55-37 in D.C. to spoil head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones' ODU debut.

Old Dominion enters Thursday with 1,099 wins and is looking to become just the eighth Division I women's basketball program to win 1,100 games.

ODU knocked off Auburn 57-44 inside Chartway Arena on Sunday. The win was the Monarchs' 18th against a current member of a Power 5 conference since Chartway Arena opened in 2002. Trailing by a pair at the half, Old Dominion outscored Auburn 22-8 in the 3rd quarter and never looked back.

Iggy Allen led the Monarchs with 21 points and 15 rebounds against the Tigers and earned C-USA Player of the Week honors on Monday after averaging 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in ODU's first two games.

Scouting George Washington
The Colonials are three games into the tenure of head coach Caroline McCombs and are 1-2 this season. McCombs replaced Jennifer Rizzotti, who went 72-74 in five seasons at GW, back in April.

Last season, the Colonials were 9-14 overall and 5-9 in the Atlantic 10, finishing in a tie for 10th. GW lost six players from that squad, including a trio of starters.

GW won its first game this season 58-47 vs. American behind an 18-point, 11-board double-double from Ty Moore. Moore is a graduate transfer from Troy, where she averaged 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds last season.

The Colonials also have losses to No. 24 Virginia Tech (75-38) and Minnesota (48-32).

The Series
The Monarchs look to even up the all-time series with George Washington on Thursday. ODU is 3-4 against the Colonials in a series that goes back to the 1989-90 season.

GW has won the last two meetings, including a 55-37 result in the nation's capital last season. The Monarchs shot just 26.3 percent from the field in that game and were 2-of-19 from deep. Amari Young tallied a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double with five steals in the loss.

What's Next
ODU plays its next five games away from home and will not return to Chartway Arena until a Dec. 8 matchup with Bowie State. The Monarchs play reigning Atlantic 10 champion VCU on Sunday at 1 p.m. before heading to Katy, Texas and the Van Chancellor Classic Nov. 26-28. Then, Old Dominion plays at William & Mary on Dec. 5.
