About ODU
The Monarchs return four starters from a season ago and welcome 10 total newcomers to the squad. ODU went 13-11 overall in head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones' first season at the helm, finishing the campaign by winning seven of its last nine games and reaching the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament as a No. 6 seed. Despite the turnover, Old Dominion still returns 69 percent of its minutes played from a season ago as well as 68 percent of its scoring, 67 percent of its assists and 79 percent of its total rebounds.

The coaches of C-USA picked Old Dominion to finish second this season in what figures to be a close race with Charlotte. The Monarchs received just 12 fewer points than the 49ers, and both teams earned six first-place votes each.

ODU placed three on the preseason all-conference team in returners Ajah Wayne and Amari Young and incoming transfer Iggy Allen. Wayne earned Second Team All-State honors from VaSID in the spring and also played her way on the Conference USA All-Tournament Team. The senior from Birmingham, Alabama led the league in offensive rebounding (3.8 per game) and was third in field goal percentage (.530) a season ago. Young garnered spots on the All-C-USA Second Team and the C-USA All-Defensive Team last season after averaging 13.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. She was 18th nationally in rebounding and top-10 in C-USA in steals (2.05, fifth), blocks (1.00, eighth) and shooting percentage (.451, seventh). Allen was C-USA's Newcomer of the Year last season with Florida Atlantic. A first team all-conference honoree, Allen was second in the conference in scoring (22.2 points per game), third in rebounding (10.9) and fourth in steals (2.2).
