POWELLS POINT, N.C. – The Old Dominion men's golf team shot a 4-under 280 on Tuesday to finish fifth at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club. Rasmus Konradsson finished tied for seventh following back-to-back 69s on Monday and Tuesday.
ODU had its best round of the tournament on Tuesday and finished the 54-hole event at 4-under 848. The Monarchs edged out North Dakota State by one stroke and were just two shots out of a top-three result. For the event, Old Dominion tied for third in total birdies with 52 and had a pair of eagles, tied for fourth-most in the field.
Konradsson opened the tournament with a 1-over 72 on the par-71, 6,564-yard Kilmarlic G.C. but rebounded with consecutive 69s for a three-day total of 3-under 210.
Gustav Fransson and Jakob Henriksson finished two strokes behind Konradsson in a tie for 12th at 1-under 212. Fransson carded a 69 on Sunday, stumbled with a 73 on Monday and closed out with a 70 in the final round. Five of Fransson's last six rounds of the fall season were at or under par. Henriksson was steady throughout the event, firing a pair of even-par 71s and a 1-under 70 on Tuesday.
Jakob Chicoyne tied for 28th at 2-under 215. He bookended a 2-over 73 on Monday with even-par rounds on Sunday and Tuesday. Filip Wetterqvist rounded out ODU's scoring five with a 227 and a share of 67th.
Competing as an individual, Kazuki Yamuchi tied for 47th at 8-over 221, including a 72 on Monday. Another individual in the field, Mason McCoy tied for 59th at 224, and John Wang finished 85th.
Delaware won the team title with a 13-under score of 839, outlasting both Drexel and Georgetown. Drexel's Drue Nicholas claimed individual medalist honors at 12-under 201.
