Monarchs Prepare for Rematch Against Pirates

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team will take a break from conference play for a rematch against ECU at the Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon's match will stream on ecupirates.com 

ODU (8-2-0) won its fourth conference match 4-0 on Friday night against Marshall. Kasey Perry helped the Monarchs get their sixth consecutive win and fifth consecutive shutout with her fourth shutout of the season. Old Dominion had four different goal scorers against the Herd; Megan Watts, Emily Roberts, Yuliia Khrystiuk, Emily Garrick. Morich is ranked seventh in C-USA in goals and is eighth in shots per game. Watts ranks eighth in the conference in goals and is sixth in shots per game. 

ECU (4-7-1) tied 1-1 after double overtime on Thursday night against Cincinnati. Haley McWhirter scored early for the Pirates while recording four shots, two on goal. The Pirates offense was also led by Morgan Dewey and Samantha Moxie with two shots each. Sophomore goalkeeper Maeve English recorded six saves from seven shots faced. This season ECU has faced off against #10 South Carolina (L, 3-1), #5 Duke (L, 5-0), and most recently #17 SMU (L, 2-0).  

Old Dominion played ECU at the ODU Soccer Complex to kick off its season on Aug. 19 and won 2-1 in overtime.
