NORFOLK, Va.– The Old Dominion women's soccer team tied 0-0 against Charlotte on Friday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Complex.

Head coach Angie Hind said, "I think tonight we just didn't play with the same composure and purpose that we have been. Credit to Charlotte, they made it tough getting numbers behind the ball. We probably played our best in overtime - only then did we really begin to create some chances and get around the goal. Whilst of course a little disappointed to not get on the board we are however pleased to continue to pick up points".

The first half of the match went scoreless regardless of the end-to-end action. Charlotte had the edge the first 45 minutes leading in shots (5-3) and corner kicks (3-0). Kasey Perry led the match with two saves for ODU in comparison to Abby Stapleton's one.

Similar to the first 45 minutes, the second half went scoreless. Charlotte again led in shots (3-2) and corner kicks (3-2) while ODU led in saves (3-1).

ODU was the only team able to get scoring opportunities in either overtime period taking five shots and four of their six corner kicks during the extra 20 minutes of play.

ODU (9-3-1, 5-0-1 C-USA) outshot Charlotte (10-8) despite having the same number of shots on goal (five). The Monarchs were led by Allie Brimmer with three shots, and Megan Watts and Gry Boe Thrysøe with two shots each. Kasey Perry achieved her sixth shutout of the season and notched five saves.

Charlotte (6-5-2, 2-2-2 C-USA) was led by Macey Bader, Kiara Pralle, and Julia Patrum all with two shots each. Abby Stapleton played 110 minutes in the goal for the 49ers recording five saves.

"This conference is tough and we know that every game we have to be at our best to win. But the positives are we collect another valuable point, remain undefeated in conference play, and show again we are tough to beat with another shutout," Hind said.

The Monarchs will play their last home game of the season on Friday, October 22 at 7 p.m. against FIU. This match will include the senior recognition activities.
