NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 18 nationally ranked Old Dominion field hockey team travels to Providence for a 2 p.m. road BIG EAST match on Friday, October 15. The Monarchs will then return home to welcome No. 14 Virginia to the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Sunday, October 17 at 1 p.m. Friday's match will stream on FloSports, while Sunday's game will stream on www.ODUSports.com.
 
Old Dominion has won five of its last six games, as well as nine of its last 11. ODU ranks 19th nationally and second in the BIG EAST for goals per game (2.50) and penalty corners per match (7.08). Marlon de Bruijne ranks eighth in the NCAA for points per outing (2.40) and ranks ninth for goals per game (1.00). The Monarchs enter the weekend with a RPI of 17. Old Dominion is 5-1 when playing at home and 4-2 in its road matches.
 
Providence has compiled a 5-8 overall record and is 1-3 in BIG EAST play. The Friars have lost four straight, however they are 5-2 when playing at home. Providence carries a RPI of 47. The Monarchs defeated the Friars twice last season by a combined score of 5-1.
 
No. 14 Virginia will arrive in Norfolk with a 7-5 record and is 2-2 in ACC action. The Cavaliers possess a RPI of 19. UVA has lost its last two matches, but is 3-1 when playing on the road this season. Old Dominion and Virginia met earlier this season on September 26, when the Monarchs downed then No. 11 UVA by a 2-1 score in Charlottesville.
