About ODU
The Monarchs (2-4) went 1-2 at the Black & Hold Challenge, hosted by Appalachian State, last weekend. ODU topped the hosts in four sets on Friday night and lost to both East Tennessee State and Kansas City.
Old Dominion set a new single-match team record with 14 blocks in the win against App State and has 58 this season. The Monarchs are third in Conference USA with 2.76 blocks per set. Hailey Duncan also set a new single-match record with a .450 attacking percentage against the Mountaineers and had 10 kills and one error on 20 total attempts. Myah Conway also set a personal best with 13 kills and posted a .400 hitting percentage.
Conway (42) and Duncan (41) are first and second, respectively, on the team in total kills. Duncan is also the ODU leader in blocks with 32.
About Liberty
The Flames (3-0) opened their season last weekend at the RMU/Chick-fil-A Robinson Labor Day Volleyball Classic and went undefeated for their first 3-0 start since 2015. Liberty opened the classic with a five-set comeback win over Duquesne before adding a pair of four-setters against Robert Morris and Idaho.
Trinity Watts tallied 52 kills, 23 digs, nine blocks and eight service aces in those three games, playing her way to tournament MVP and ASUN Player of the Week honors. Amaya Williams tallied 135 assists, and Lindsey Hardesty led the way with 38 digs.
LU went 5-9 in the spring and fell in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championship. The Flames were picked to finish sixth in the conference this season.
About Loyola Marymount
The Lions enter the weekend at 4-1 with their lone loss coming to No. 8-ranked Purdue to start the season. Most recently, Loyola Marymount went 3-0 at the Fresno State Invitational – besting Fresno State, UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge.
Kari Geissberger racked up 53 kills at the Fresno State Invitational, garnering West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week recognition in the process. A First Team All-WCC honoree in the spring, Geissberger has 90 kills this season and is in the top-100 nationally in kills per set.
Isabella Bareford, another All-WCC First Teamer from last season, leads LMU with 212 assists this season. Bareford has handed out at least 30 assists in all five matches this season and has topped 40 assists four times.
The Lions posted a 7-9 record last season, playing exclusively in-conference competition. They were picked to finish fourth in the WCC this year.
About Purdue Fort Wayne
The Mastodons are 1-5 to start the fall season and are coming off a 1-2 showing at the Discover Kalamazoo Classic. PFW lost to Southeast Missouri and Indiana before rebounding to top Western Michigan in the finale.
The Mastodons are highlighted by graduate student outside hitter Katie Crowe. In the spring, Crowe received an All-American Honorable Mention from the AVCA while also being named the Horizon League's Offensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year. Through six matches this season, Crowe has racked up 78 kills while attacking at a .213 clip. She is currently top of the Horizon League and inside the top-60 nationally in kills per set and points per set.
