DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Old Dominion men's golf team turned in a three-round total of 893 (+23) to finish tied for fifth at the River Run Collegiate, hosted by Davidson at River Run Country Club.
The Monarchs carded their best round of the two-day event in Monday's second round at 5-over 293. ODU rose one spot up the leaderboard with a final-round 299 on Tuesday.
Gustav Fransson and Rasmus Konradsson tied for 16th at 5-over 221. Konradsson fired a 70 (-2) on Tuesday, ODU's best round on the par-72, 7,317-yard course. Konradsson went out in 31 on the strength of six birdies on the front nine and finished his third round with seven total birdies.
A senior from Sundsvall, Sweden, Konradsson was tied for fifth in a field of 84 individuals in par-5 scoring at 5-under. As a team, the Monarchs were third-best on par-5 holes, shooting a collective 8-under.
Kazuki Yamauchi and Filip Wetterqvist carded 227s to finish tied for 32nd. Yamauchi shot a 1-under 71 in the second round to go under par for the second time this season. The sophomore from Osaka, Japan tallied 11 birdies across his three rounds, the most by any Monarch at the event.
Jakob Henriksson rounded out ODU's lineup with a 230 and a share of 43rd place.
Charlotte won the team title at 15-under 849 and was the only program to finish the event under par. Marshall finished in second at 880 (+16).
Matt Sharpstene of Charlotte took home individual medalists honors at 9-under 207. His teammate, Ben Woodruff finished just one stroke behind.
Old Dominion takes a brief break before returning to action at the Georgia State Invitational, Oct. 11-12 at Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Georgia.
