NORFOLK, Va. – Three members of the Old Dominion University women's lacrosse team in Lauren Carey, Madison Corcoran and Lilly Siskind were named Second Team All-State by VaSID, the organization announced on Thursday.
Lauren Carey | Fr. | D | Chester Springs, Pa.
Starting in defense as a true freshman, Carey tallied 45 ground balls and caused 24 turnovers to lead ODU in both categories. On the conference level, the native of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania ranked second in both caused turnovers per game and ground balls per game. Additionally, she was 19th in the nation in ground balls per game. Carey had seven games with multiple caused turnovers, including three games in which she caused three, and had seven games with four or more ground balls.
Madison Corcoran | Jr. | D | Rochester, N.Y.
A Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree, Corcoran was the experienced anchor in Old Dominion's defense. She ranked second on the team with 22 caused turnovers, and her 27 ground balls were third-best on the team. Corcoran ranked eighth in the AAC in caused turnovers per game. The native of Rochester, New York had seven games with multiple caused turnovers, including five in a game at Cincinnati. In that same game, Corcoran grabbed five ground balls, one of five games with three or more ground balls on the season.
Lilly Siskind | So. | A | West Chester, Pa.
Siskind enjoyed a breakout season for the Monarchs, finishing with 31 goals, 11 assists and 42 points. Those 31 goals and 42 points represented career highs for the native of West Chester, Pennsylvania. An All-AAC Second Teamer, Siskind ranked 10th in the conference in goals per game. She notched five hat tricks on the year, including a five-goal outing against East Carolina and two more four-goal games. Siskind handed out multiple assists in three games and ended a contest with three or more points eight times.
James Madison swept all four major honors with Molly Dougherty and Emma Johnson being named player of the year and defensive player of the year, respectively. Isabella Peterson was honored as the VaSID Rookie of the Year, and Shelley Klaes was selected coach of the year.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
