FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Old Dominion University football senior linebacker Jordan Young has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the Wuerffel Trophy committee announced on Thursday. The trophy exists to honor college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world.
The Wuerffel Trophy is selected on three tiers, community service, academics and athletic success.
Young has played in 36 career games at Old Dominion, starting 35 at linebacker. He ranks fourth in school history with 246 career tackles and is currently 10th among active FBS players in career tackles.
A native of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Young has earned his undergraduate degree in sport management and is currently working on his master's degree in sport management.
Young has also been integral in ODU's community service projects, helping the Student Government Association (SGA) with Spirit Friday, participating in a canned food drive and working with the Paper Bridges Organization.
ODU opens the 2021 campaign on Friday, Sept. 3 at Wake Forest and the home portion of the schedule on Saturday, Sept. 11 against Hampton.
