NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 20 Old Dominion baseball Monarchs complete the 2021 regular season with a pair of games at No. 14 Louisiana Tech on Thursday and Friday.
The Monarchs (36-14, 22-10 C-USA) wrapped up C-USA play winning 3-of-4 games against Western Kentucky and securing second place in the C-USA East Division.
Kyle Battle leads C-USA and is tied for seventh in the country with 17 homers. He also leads the league and is tied for second in the country with 47 walks.
Outfielder Andy Garriola leads the country with 63 RBI's.
Freshman second baseman Carter Trice leads all C-USA rookies in hits (67), home runs (11), slugging pct. (635) and batting average (.354)
Senior Jason Hartline leads the Monarchs in appearances with 20, and a team-best 1.23 ERA. Ryne Moore and Hunter are tied at the top with seven wins apiece, as Moore posts a 3.10 ERA, and Gregory is at 3.14.
ODU's RPI is at 16, the highest RPI in Conference USA. Louisiana Tech is No. 23 in RPI.
Scouting the Bulldogs
LA Tech is 36-14 overall and won the C-USA West Division and will be the No. 2 seed at next week's C-USA Championship. The Bulldogs are led by Hunter Wells, who leads C-USA in hitting with a .369 average. Jonathan Fincher leads the squad on the mound with a 2.58 ERA and is second in the league with 80.1 innings pitched.
