NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team wrapped up its season with a 17-4 loss to No. 9 Florida on Sunday at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Prior to the game, the Monarchs bade farewell to Lindsay Baer, Madison Corcoran, Heather Higgins, Isabelle O'Connell and Kortney Parker on Senior Day.
"This year had obvious challenges, but our team was focused on getting better each day and celebrating the small victories," head coach Heather Holt said. "I want to thank our seniors who have endured three different conference changes and a pandemic. They are resilient, and these obstacles have made all of us stronger. With the senior leadership, our team stayed positive and leaves us with an exciting future ahead!"
Caroline Shaefer opened the scoring on the day with an unassisted marker at the 28:29 mark. Shannon Kavanagh netted a pair of goals for the Gators (13-3, 10-0 American) before Claire Porter tied the score at 2-all with 22:20 to go. Kassidy Bresnahan broke the deadlock to kickstart a 13-0 Florida run stretching into the second half.

Nearly five minutes later, Amber Stieve set up Tess Meurling for her fourth tally of the season to make the score 15-4. The helper was Stieve's second of the season.
Stieve shared the team high in ground balls (two) with Lauren Carey. Carey was one of five Monarchs with a caused turnover on Sunday.
Shaefer added three draw controls against the Gators, running her season tally to 49. The midfielder from Glen Mills, Pennsylvania finishes the year with the sixth-most draw controls in a single season at ODU. Danielle Dundas snared a pair of draw controls as well.
Jenna Peccia made 12 saves for the Monarchs.
