ODU Baseball in the National Polls

NORFOLK, Va. - For the first time since 2017, Old Dominion baseball is nationally ranked. Following the road series win at FAU this past weekend, the Monarchs are ranked 22nd in this week's D1Baseball and USA Today Top 25 Polls.
 
ODU (24-6, 10-2 C-USA) currently sits in second place in the Conference USA East standings, as the Monarchs are 10-2 in C-USA play. The Monarchs are averaging 8.4 runs per game and is hitting .300 as a club, while holding opponents to 4.1 runs per game. ODU has outscored its C-USA opponents by a 113-48 margin. They currently lead the nation in home runs (54) and are in the top-10 in the country in runs (252), sacrifice flies (18), slugging percentage (.544) and triples (12).

 
ODU has won 12 of their last 14 games, and all three C-USA series, including the last two on the road.
 
Individually, Carter Trice was tabbed on the 2021 College Baseball Freshman of the Year Watch. Trice has been named C-USA Hitter of the Week twice this season. He paces the Monarchs with a .381 average and 43 hits. On the mound, ODU's starting rotation of Tommy Gertner, Nick Pantos, Hunter Gregory and Ryne Moore have compiled 153 strikeouts and 11 wins.
 
The top-25 ranking marks the second time the Monarchs have been ranked during the Chris Finwood era. The last time ODU was ranked came in 2017, when the Monarchs ranked No. 25 in the D1 Baseball poll and finished with a 35-21 mark that season.
