NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team hosts Liberty on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex in the Monarchs' penultimate nonconference matchup.
ABOUT ODU
Old Dominion dropped a 16-6 contest with George Washington on Saturday. Lilly Siskind and Lindsay Baer notched two goals each for the Monarchs. Maria Rekus forced a game-high four turnovers and was one of four ODU players with two ground balls. Caroline Shaefer finished the game with three draw controls. As a team, the Monarchs won the turnover battle 23-16 and outshot the Colonials 36-32.
Lauren Carey earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after forcing four turnovers, grabbing six ground balls and adding two draw controls in a pair of games last week.
ABOUT LIBERTY
The Flames are coming off an 18-10 home win over Radford on March 3. Brooke Bryan scored four goals and was one of three Liberty players with a hat trick along with Leah Ruby and Olivia Glaze.
LU was picked to finish second in the ASUN and boasts the conference's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year in Carly White. White, Sarah Steenson and Anna Keebler all made the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team.
THE SERIES
The two teams are meeting for the sixth time. ODU holds a 3-2 edge in the series, but Liberty has won the last two matchups. The Monarchs last played the Flames in 2019, a 14-8 setback on the road.
WHAT'S NEXT
Old Dominion has one final nonconference test with No. 17 Richmond on Sunday at 11 a.m. before it begins its inaugural campaign in the American.
COVID POLICIES
The L.R. Hill Sports Complex will welcome 600 fans on a first come, first served basis. The main gate opens 60 minutes prior to the start of the match. Spectator parking is available in Lot 43. Tailgating is not permitted.
Fans in attendance must comply with the following guidelines:
- Mask required for entry. No gaiters.
- Maintain social distancing while in the facility.
- No large gatherings inside the facility (10+).
- Please sit in the stands in the designated locations.
- Wash hands frequently.

Due to popular demand, the Old Dominion University Athletics Department has made Monarch Fan Cutouts available for field hockey and women's lacrosse.
The "Monarch Cutouts", presented by Chartway, are available for $59. Monarch Cutouts purchased for ODU field hockey will be placed in a highly visible area of the L.R. Hill Sports Complex and will stay up throughout the spring, for the entirety of the ODU field hockey and women's lacrosse seasons. Photos of the fan cutouts will be posted on social media throughout the season.
