NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team finishes up an extended 11-game homestand with a pair of American Athletic Conference games against No. 24 Temple on Friday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
ABOUT ODU
The Monarchs began their inaugural campaign in the American by splitting two games against East Carolina last weekend. The Pirates took the first game, 12-9, before ODU responded with a 13-12 overtime thriller on Sunday. Tess Meurling scored from a tight angle to the right of goal with 2:02 left in overtime to give the Monarchs their first conference win as a member of the AAC.
 
Lilly Siskind notched seven goals and three assists across both games with ECU to earn Attack Player of the Week recognition from the conference. The native of West Chester, Pennsylvania now has 19 goals and 27 points on the season, both single-season highs, and ranks fifth in the conference in goals.
 
ODU came up with 68 percent (19 of 28) of draw controls in Sunday's win. Caroline Shaefer had a game-high seven and is up to 34 on the season. The midfielder from Glen Mills, Pennsylvania is six draw controls away from entering the single-season top-10 at ODU. 
 
ABOUT TEMPLE
The Owls opened conference play with two home losses to No. 11 Florida, 15-9 and 14-7. Belle Mastropietro leads TU with 19 goals but was limited to only three tallies against the Gators.
 
Meghan Hoffman ranks second in the AAC and ninth nationally with 17 assists. Courtney Taylor leads the conference in both caused turnovers per game (2.57) and ground balls per game (4.71). 
 
THE SERIES
Old Dominion and Temple are meeting for the 19th time but have not played since 2007. The Owls hold an 11-7 edge over the Monarchs.
 
ODU took the last meeting 10-7 on the strength of an 8-0 scoring run.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Monarchs depart the L.R. Hill Sports Complex for four-straight conference road games against Vanderbilt (April 1 and 2) and Cincinnati (April 16 and 18) before closing out the regular season at home against Florida on April 23 and 25.
 
COVID POLICIES
The L.R. Hill Sports Complex will welcome 600 fans on a first come, first served basis. The main gate opens 60 minutes prior to the start of the match. Spectator parking is available in Lot 43. Tailgating is not permitted.

  • Mask required for entry. No gaiters.
  • Maintain social distancing while in the facility.
  • No large gatherings inside the facility (10+).
  • Please sit in the stands in the designated locations.
  • Wash hands frequently.
