PINEHURST, N.C. – Carter Morgan carded a 1-under 70 in the final round to finish tied for seventh at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The Old Dominion men's golf team also ended in a tie for seventh at 48-over 900 (300-295-305) on the par-71, 6,937-yard Pinehurst No. 8.

"With the exception of senior captain Carter Morgan, the rest of the team really struggled today," head coach Murray Rudisill said. "It was a very disappointing finish for the Monarchs. Carter played great golf the last two rounds. We will work really hard for our next event. The team plays very well in practice rounds, but we cannot seem to carry that over to the tournament competition. We will be working on both our physical and our mental approaches to the game in the next few weeks. We have a really talented group of fine young men, and we will get better."

Morgan improved his score across all three rounds of the event. After completing the front nine at 1-over 37, the senior from Tappahannock, Virginia recorded birdies on three of his final four holes. Morgan ended up in a three-way tie for seventh at 6-over 219 (77-72-70) and was the only Monarch to turn in an under-par round at the event.

Gustav Fransson fired a final-round 78 to drop into a tie for 22nd at 12-over 225 (74-73-78). Rasmus Konradsson followed consecutive rounds of 74 with a 79 on Sunday to end up in a tie for 32nd. Jakob Henriksson finished tied for 39th after a final-round 79.

Kazuki Yamauchi posted his best score as a Monarch with a 78 in the final round and finished 68th.

As a team, ODU posted the third-best score on par-5s, finishing the three rounds at 5-over. Fransson shot 1-under on the par-5 holes, which was tied for the second-best score in the field. The senior from Umea, Sweden also matched the second-best total on par-4s at 2-over.

Dayton won the event at 885 (300-289-296), two strokes ahead of Abilene Christian. Logan Sabins of Butler carded an even-par 71 to take medalist honors at 1-over 214 (73-70-71).
