EATONTON, Ga. – The Old Dominion women's golf team heads into the final round of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in the lead after a second round 305 (+17) on Saturday afternoon.
"We really weathered the storm today. Conditions were tough and the hole locations were very difficult," said head coach Mallory Hetzel. "Once again we finished well and saved a number of shots coming down the stretch. We have a great plan for tomorrow and relish the challenge."
Following a morning frost delay, juniors Leah Onosato and Jana Melichova led the way for ODU, both turning in a three-over 75 on the 6,031-yard course.
Graduate transfer Justine Lauer carded a 77 (+5), adding three birdies on the day. Noemie Sudron and Pilar Muguruza rounded out the ODU lineup, recording a 78 (+6) and 80 (+8), respectively.
After 36 holes, the Monarchs continue to lead the 15-team field in par 5 scoring (5.05). Additionally, ODU paces the field with 116 pars over two days of action. Overall, three Monarchs are within the top-20 individually.
Playing as an individual, freshman Elsie Verhoeven improved on her first round, carding an 84 on day two.
