NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's tennis team (2-5) took down William & Mary (1-1) by a 5-2 score on Sunday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. After dropping the doubles point, the Monarchs claimed victory in five of the six singles matches.
Picking up wins in singles play for ODU were Oliver Tobisch (6-2, 6-4), Jannik Giesse (6-4, 7-5), Luca Maldoner (7-5, 7-5), Younes Lalami (7-5, 7-6) and Tomislav Podvinski (6-3, 6-7, 10-7).
"I am super proud of how we responded after losing the doubles point," said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. "We finally showed up in all six singles spots, which makes us a tough out for any team. We have to continue doing that, but we are definitely getting better."
Old Dominion will return to action on Friday, Feb. 19, when the Tennis Monarchs welcome Liberty to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center for a 1:00 p.m. match. All home indoor ODU tennis matches are closed to the general public.
