NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's tennis head coach Dominic Manilla announced the additions of Clark Cummings as a Volunteer Assistant Coach and Ali Wahab as Director of Operations to the Tennis Monarchs staff.

From 2016-20, Cummings was a member of the tennis team at Hampden Sydney College in Farmville, Va., where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, while obtaining a minor in creative writing and rhetoric. He was a team captain from 2017-20 and was named to the All-ODAC First Team in 2017-19.

For the past eight years, Cummings has served as the Assistant Tennis Professional at Cape Henry Racquet Club in Virginia Beach. He has also worked as the Assistant Tennis Pro at Meadow Club of Southampton since 2017. Cummings graduated from Norfolk Academy in 2016.

"It has all come full circle," explained Cummings. "I was born into this program and grew up on the campus of Old Dominion University. Ever since I was a little kid, I had aspirations of being a part of Old Dominion tennis and I look forward to representing Old Dominion University. At the end of the day, I want to help this program achieve the goals we have put in place and hold up the Conference USA title in April. There is a lot of work to do, but I am confident this is the group that will get it done. Go Monarchs!"

Wahab, a former ODU wrestler from 2016-20, is a communications major with a concentration in film and television and a marketing minor at Old Dominion. He has been a SAAC member since 2019 and currently serves as the Community Outreach Chairman. Wahab reigns from Dearborn, Mich., where he attended Crestwood High School.

"I'm so excited to be working with the ODU women's tennis team," said Wahab. "I went from only being in the stands and cheering them on, to being able to help them on a daily basis. I'd like to thank Dom and Yana for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the team. I can't wait to see what this season has in store for us. Let's go, Monarchs!"

The Tennis Monarchs begin their season on Friday, Jan. 22 at 9:00 a.m. EST against Ole Miss in Chapel Hill, N.C., as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
