NORFOLK, Va. - The inaugural Old Dominion volleyball team was selected to finish seventh in the Conference USA East division, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Fred Chao and the Monarchs open their first-ever season on Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. when they play host to George Mason at the newly renovated ODU Volleyball Center. This opening match, along with the Monarchs' matchup with VCU on Jan. 23, will be closed to the general public.
Fans can tune into the inaugural volleyball game against George Mason via a free live stream of the match on ODUSports.com. Following the conclusion of the match, the game will be available to watch on-demand on the Monarch Media video player on ODUSports.com.
Sunday's match, on January 24, against Delaware State will be open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis with limited attendance. Doors open one hour prior to the start of the match.
C-USA action is set to start on Feb. 8 when ODU heads to Miami, Florida to take on FIU.

The top four teams in each division will qualify for the C-USA Volleyball Championship. Southern Miss will host the eight-team, single-elimination tournament April 1-3 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Monarch Fan Cutouts
Due to popular demand, the Old Dominion University athletics department has made Monarch Fan Cutouts available for volleyball.
The "Monarch Cutouts", presented by Chartway, are available for $59 and will be in attendance at all home games for the 2021 season. Photos of the fan cutouts will be posted on social media throughout the season. To have your cutout in time for volleyball, your order must be purchased by Jan. 15.
