DALLAS – Conference USA announced the student-athletes who are receiving the 2020 Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship on Thursday afternoon, and senior lacrosse captain Anna Davis was selected as Old Dominion's recipient.

Davis, who was named one of three captains prior to the 2020 season, has been a staple in the ODU backfield the past two seasons, earning a starting spot in all 26 games combined. This season, the King of Prussia, Pa. native picked up 10 ground balls and caused seven turnovers in nine games.

In the classroom, Davis has excelled in ODU's health sciences program, earning a cumulative 3.66 GPA. Her undergraduate success has propelled her to attending Drexel University in the fall with the goal of becoming an epidemiologist. She was one of only four incoming students who was chosen to participate in the program's Dornsife Public Health Research Fellowship.

Prior to her committing to Drexel, Davis was accepted to numerous graduate programs from other prestigious colleges, such as Columbia, Boston College and Penn. You can read more about Davis' career goals, as well as how her time on the lacrosse field at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex have helped her along the way, by clicking here.

The C-USA scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Jim Castañeda, who was an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative at Rice for 46 years before he passed away in 2008. Every season, C-USA grants the $4,000 scholarship to 14 distinguished graduates, one from each school in the conference, selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.
