NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men's basketball head coach, Jeff Jones, announced the addition of David Strother to the roster on Tuesday afternoon. Strother, a 6-foot 2-inch 175-pound guard, is a graduate transfer from UNC Pembroke with one year of eligibility remaining and can compete right away.
"David had an extremely productive career at UNC Pembroke," said Jones. "His maturity, experience and skill set will translate very well into Conference USA."
Strother reigns from Lumberton, N.C. and attended Village Christian Academy, where he played for head coach Kurtis Darden. Strother earned all-county and all-state laurels as a prep senior after averaging 14.7 points, 8.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game and led Village Christian Academy to a 26-5 record and the 2A state championship.
Throughout his collegiate career at UNC Pembroke, Strother has appeared in 94 games, making 89 total starts, while scoring 1,046 points over the three-year span. In 2019-20 as a junior, Strother helped lead the Braves to a 24-6 record, while averaging 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists (led team) and 1.5 steals per game. He also connected on 40.0% (56-140) of his three-point field-goal attempts last season. Strother was a business major at UNCP.
