Baseball Comes From Behind to Top VCU, 6-3

RICHMOND, Va. – Ryan Teschko delivered the go-ahead double to break a 3-3 tied in the eighth inning and eight Monarch pitchers slammed the door for a 6-3 come-from-behind win at VCU on Wednesday night.
 
Trailing 3-0 entering the seventh inning, Matt Coutney worked a leadoff walk and Andrea Dalatri hammered a two-run homer over the left field fence for his first career homer. Tommy Bell followed with a sacrifice fly to score Matt Burch and tie the game at three.
 
In the eighth inning, Battle led off with an infield single and scored on a double by Teschko to give ODU its first lead of the game at 4-3.
 
ODU added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth as Dominick Claxton led off with a single and Matt Burch followed with a double to right. Chris Dengler then knocked a double down the left field line to score Claxton and Burch for the final 6-3 tally.
 
VCU got all of its runs in a three-run third inning.
 
Burch led the way offensively for ODU with a pair of hits.
 
Tommy Gertner started for the Monarchs and tossed two scoreless innings. Michael Parmentier earned the win pitching a scoreless seventh and Noah Dean struck out the side to earn his second save of the season.
 
ODU returns home to face Yale on Friday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.
