NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's basketball team earned seven votes in the most recent USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll after its performance on the hardwood this past week. The last time ODU received votes in the coaches poll was over a decade ago on December 18, 2008. Nikki McCray's Monarchs were also named NCAA Team of the Week as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
The Monarchs (22-3, 12-1 C-USA) notched wins over Rice and North Texas, which propelled the Monarchs to the top of the league. ODU snapped Rice's 30 conference game win streak on Feb. 13 in overtime at the Chartway Arena. On Saturday, ODU defeated North Texas, 71-66 to extend its win streak to 11.

ODU will return to action on Feb. 20 as they head to Charlotte to take on the 49ers.
