ODUSports.com recently polled members of the ODU swim team and asked them a variety of questions. Today we ask them, why swimming?

Why did you choose swimming?

Brynn Jewell
I come from a family of swimmers and was introduced to swimming competitions from a very young age. It wasn't until later in life when I made the sport my own. I love this sport because I love the water, working hard and my team, which is like family to me. Most of all, I love racing. There is nothing better than pushing past someone in the water to get your hand on the wall first.

Peter Durisin
I started with figure skating when I was five years old because my aunt was an Olympian and later a coach. But I wasn't talented at all, so I picked swimming as my second choice.

Ainsley Diesi
I was thrown into a lot of sports as a child yet swimming was ultimately the only sport that made me genuinely happy.

Jacob Cobb
I started to swim when I was around seven years old, but I really have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I keep swimming because I love to set goals, work hard to achieve them, and, hopefully, achieve them. Swimming has also given me so many friends and opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to get any other way. Swimming is important to me because I feel as though we have a job here at ODU to represent our school in a positive light and to strive to be the best team that we can be.
