NORFOLK, Va. - Former Old Dominion University sailor Mike Martin, along with his teammate Adam Lowry, are finalists for the prestigious Rolex Yachtsman of the Year award. Fans can vote for Martin and Lowry by clicking here.
Martin and Lowry won every regatta they sailed together this year, winning the 505 North Americans, 505 Canadian Nationals, 505 Pacific Coast and the 505 World Championships. The duo won the world championships in a field of 90 competitors that was held in Fremantle, Australia.
At Old Dominion, Martin was the first Monarch to win the Intercollegiate Yacht and Racing Association Singlehanded National Championship. A three-time collegiate sailing All-American, Martin was indcuted into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
