WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. - ODU baseball's Andy Garriola returned to the baseball diamond this summer, participating in the Northwoods League, where he played on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters baseball club. Garriola played in 43 games and hit .309 with 48 RBIs, nine doubles, six home runs and 51 hits. The outfielders .309 average ranked third-best on the Rafters and his 51 hits were the most on the squad.

"The competition was great, I couldn't have asked to play with a better group of guys," explained Garriola. " Spending everyday with these guys for two months really builds something, it sucks to be leaving them."

Throughout the two month season, the redshirt sophomore helped lead the Rapids Rafters to a 35-11 overall record. The team won the Wisconsin-Illinois West Division in the Northwoods League.

On Aug. 8, Garriola hit two home runs against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, propelling the Rafters to a 10-7 win. The Sierra Madre, Calif., native compiled 12 multi-hit games and two games with five RBIs.
