OKLAHOMA CITY – Old Dominion University cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement was named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame announced on Monday. The award is given to the top defensive back in the country.
In his first season at ODU in 2019, Ford-Dement broke ODU's single-season record for pass breakups and placed 10th in FBS with 13. He was second in the league in pass breakups and earned second-team All-Conference USA honors.
A native of Whitehouse, Texas, Ford-Dement had two interceptions last season to go along with 26 tackles. He was named a preseason All-Conference USA performer by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
