NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University athletics had four teams receive recognition by finishing in the top-10 percent in the NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rates (APR). The men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis and women's golf teams earned the honor.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams.
This is the second-straight season the women's golf and women's tennis squads received the honor. The four teams finishing in the top-10 percent of their sport is the most in one season in ODU history. The four squads finished with perfect 1,000 four-year APR scores.
"To have four of our teams finish in the top-10 percent of their sport in the APR is a great accomplishment. Congratulations go out to the tremendous work done by Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare, Randale Richmond and his team, led by Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services, Dr. Ron Moses, and the outstanding job their group does in preparing our student-athletes," ODU Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig said. "Credit also goes to our coaches for setting such a positive academic culture and recruiting the right academic student-athlete and of course our exceptional student-athletes who have performed so well in the classroom."
