ORLANDO, Fla. - The Old Dominion women's golf team took a 12th place finish at the UCF Challenge on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Jana Melichova led the team with a top-25 finish individually.
"We were very excited to get our spring season started," explained head coach Mallory Hetzel. "There's a lot of positives to take from this tournament. Our par 5 play was great and I know that will serve us well in the coming months. We will be working hard to get ready for the Moon Golf Invitational in two weeks."
In the final round ODU shot four strokes better then the previous round, recording a six-over 294. In the 91-player field, three Monarchs finished in the top-50 in Melochova, Leah Onosato and Madison Corley. In her first tournament as a Monarch, Corley recorded two even-par rounds during the three-day event. Onosato fired a one-under 71 to post the best Monarch round of the day. Pilar Muguruza and Noemie Sudron round out the Monarch scoring on the afternoon, recording rounds of 76 and 75, respectively.
