NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team will be spending its leap day in Farmville, Virginia on Saturday, February 29, when it takes on Longwood at 1 p.m.
 
In its last game this past Saturday, ODU downed Radford, 12-6 at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. The Monarchs scored nine goals in the second half, including a 7-0 run to begin the final half hour of action. Glory Johnson led the second-half surge registering five points, (three goals and two assists) in the stanza. Along with Johnson, five other Monarchs registered multiple points in the victory. Lilly Siskind scored two goals and added a helper, while Danielle Dundas, Caroline Shaefer and Katie McGrain each added two goals of their own. Brooke Stein earned two assists in the effort.
 
In goal, freshman Sabrina Leatherwood earned a season-high 14 saves for her third win of the year. Leatherwood was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week last week and was named to the conference's Weekly Honor Roll this past Monday. She is ranked 11th in the nation and first in the conference with 49 totals saves through five games so far this campaign. Her save percentage (.510) also puts her atop the BIG EAST, while her saves per game mark (9.80) places her in second in the league in that category. 

Offensively, Johnson is among the top in the country in several categories, ranking sixth with 18 goals, fifth in draw controls per game with a mark of 8.40 and ninth in points with 26. 

About Longwood
The Lancers are 1-3 this season and are coming off of a 12-7 loss against Eastern Carolina on Wednesday. Kaitlin Luccarelli scored over half of her team's goals in the contest, registering four goals and adding an assist for Longwood. At home this season, the Lancers are 0-2.  

This past week, Longwood swept the Big South weekly awards, as Dana Joss, Olivia Zubillaga and Kaylen Karnes were named the Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively. 
 
Currently, Longwood leads the Big South Conference in scoring offense, averaging 13.50 points per game. The Lancers also lead their conference in turnovers per game, averaging 12.25 in their four contests. 

Series History
Saturday's contest between ODU and Longwood will be the 10th time these two programs meet on the lacrosse field. The Monarchs hold a 6-3 advantage in the prior nine meetings, including winning the last three matches.
 
Last season, The Monarchs edged the Lancers in an 11-9 decision. ODU outscored Longwood 8-3 in the second half to propel the team to its two-point victory. Johnson scored three goals on five shots, while Claire Porter netted two goals of her own in the Monarch win. The last time these two teams faced off against each other in Farmville was in 2016, which ended with a 14-13 win for ODU.
