NORFOLK, Va. – Aaron Carver, a redshirt senior forward on the Old Dominion men's basketball team, was one of five players to be named to CoSIDA's Academic NCAA Division I All-District 3 (North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia) First Team on Thursday afternoon.
 
The 2019-20 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
 
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced between March 9-12.
 
Carver was a 2018-19 Conference USA All-Academic Team honoree. He earned his undergraduate degree in Engineering Technology (3.43 GPA) and a minor in Engineering Management and is currently getting his Masters in Engineering Management (3.70 GPA). Carver is a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Commissioner's Medal recipient. He is also NABC Honors Court honoree and has been a member of SAAC for the past several years. The redshirt junior forward interned at NASA over the summer.
 
Carver leads the conference in total rebounds (17th in NCAA), defensive rebounds per game (26th in NCAA) and rebounds per game (29th in NCAA). He is one of two team captains this season and is one of three players on team to start every game for the Monarchs this season. Carver leads team in blocks and rebounds, while his 642 career rebounds ranks 25th all-time for the ODU basketball program.  
 
The Elizabeth City, N.C.-native has hauled down 20 rebounds in a single game twice this season, which ranks fourteenth in the NCAA for boards by a single player in a single game in 2019-20.
