Women's Golf Wraps Up Moon Golf Invitational Strong to Take 12th

MELBOURNE, Fla. - After a final round 290, the Old Dominion women's golf team finished in 12th at the Moon Golf Invitational hosted by Louisville. Sophomore Leah Onosato recorded a top-10 finish as an individual, shooting a 69 on the final day of play. 

"We played great today and feel like we have a lot of positive momentum heading into the next tournament," explained head coach Mallory Hetzel. "Our par 5 play was once again outstanding. We are close to putting together a complete performance and really looking forward to the UTSA tournament in a few weeks."

With her 69 on Tuesday, Onosato recorded her best round this season, notching 13 birdies, good for second-most in the tournament field. The native of Japan also had her best career finish as a Monarch and her best 54-hole score in relation to par. Junior Noemie Sudron and sophomore Jana Melichova closed out action finishing in a tie for 52nd. Melichova turned in a 69 (-3) on Tuesday afternoon to help the Monarchs jump three spots from Monday afternoon. Freshman Pilar Muguruza rounded out the tournament in a tie for 79th, notching two rounds in the 70's and one in the 80's. Rounding out the Monarchs is junior Madison Corley, who recorded her best round of the tournament on Tuesday afternoon with a 77.
