NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team has won two games in a row and will be traveling to Williamsburg, Virginia to take on William & Mary this Wednesday, February 19 at 5 p.m.

The Monarchs earned their first road victory of the young season this past Saturday, coming back from a three-goal deficit twice to beat Winthrop, 17-15. The Monarchs scored six of the last seven goals of the contest, with sophomore Lilly Siskind netting the game-winner and the insurance goal to clinch the victory. Glory Johnson scored five goals and added four assists for a game-high nine points. Siskind and Claire Porter ended the contest with three goals each, while Brooke Stein collected two goals and three assists. Freshman Samantha Leatherwood turned aside 11 shots to earn her second win of the campaign.

This season, Johnson already has accumulated 15 goals and 21 points in the three Monarch games this season, putting her among the top in the country in both categories, as she sits in fourth in goals and fifth in points. Stein has 10 points on the season, the second-most on the team behind Johnson. Stein's five goals put her in a tie for second on the team with Porter and senior Michelle Hallman.

In goal, Leatherwood has started two of the three Monarch games and earned wins in both of them. In three total appearances this season, the freshman has saved 24 shots while posting an 11.35 goals against average and a .444 save percentage.

Both Johnson and Leatherwood earned recognition from the BIG EAST Conference this week, as Johnson was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week and Leatherwood received the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award for their play in the two Monarch victories.

About William & Mary
In its first two games of the season, the Tribe has gone 0-2 and has been outscored 36-23. On Saturday W&M traveled to George Mason and lost 20-11.

Belle Martire scored four goals in the effort, bringing her season total to nine, the most on the team. Prior to the season, Martire was selected to the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) preseason all-conference team. Last year, she earned a spot on the league's all-rookie team for her successful freshman campaign. In goal, Elsa Rall has earned both starts for the Tribe and has collected 18 saves in just under 90 minutes of play.

The Tribe was selected to finish seventh out of the seven team in the CAA's preseason poll under first-year head coach Coleen Dawson.

Series History
This will be the 50th time that ODU and W&M meet on the lacrosse field, the most times the Monarchs have faced an opponent in program history. ODU has won just 13 of the prior 49 contests, with their last win coming in the 2017 season. The Monarchs did win the first-ever meeting between the two teams, with a 10-9 win back in 1980. The last time the Monarchs won in Williamsburg was in 2012.

Last season at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex, the Tribe cruised to a 17-10 victory over the Monarchs. Johnson scored four goals in the effort, but the Tribe's offense was too much to handle, holding a 33-20 shot advantage over the Monarchs.
