Antonio Agee returns to the top-six at 184 pounds in the latest MAC Wrestling Rankings

NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) released its February wrestling rankings on Thursday afternoon, and Old Dominion was voted fifth in the 15-team conference. Additionally, five wrestling Monarchs are featured in the league's individual rankings.

For the third rankings period in a row, redshirt senior Sa'Derian Perry sits atop the 141-pound weight class rankings. This season he has downed both Kyle Shoop of Lock Haven and Grant Leeth of Missouri, who check in at third and fifth in the conference, respectively. Perry is currently ranked No. 18 in the country in TrackWrestling's national poll.

Killian Cardinale is the second of two Monarch wrestlers who are placed in the top-three of their weight classes, checking in at the third spot at 125 pounds. Cardinale sits behind Drew Hildebrandt of Central Michigan and Luke Werner of Lock Haven. Cardinale has earned five victories over ranked opponents this season and is coming off of a victory over No. 13 Joey Prata in ODU's match against No. 7 Virginia Tech this past Sunday. The redshirt sophomore is ranked in the top-15 in four national polls, topping out at No. 14.

Shane Jones was voted fourth in the conference at 165 pounds. Jones has won all five of his bouts against MAC opponents this season, earning bonus points for his team in three of them.

Larry Early rounds out the top-five in the 157-pound rankings. Early, who is ranked as high as No. 10 in the country, has won 12 of his last 13 matches, including a 3-1 sudden-victory decision over No. 13 B.C. LaPrade of Virginia Tech on Sunday.

After falling out of the conference poll in the last rankings period, Antonio Agee returns, claiming the sixth spot at 184 pounds. Agee has wrestled to a 16-12 record this season, including two pins.

As a team, ODU was bumped up a spot to fifth after being voted as sixth in the last MAC rankings. ODU collected 16.0 points and jumped ahead of Northern Illinois, who garnered 15.5 points in the voting. Missouri, Rider and Lock Haven hold the top-three spots in the conference, while Central Michigan checks in at fourth with 19.0 points.

The 15 schools were ranked based on the number of first through sixth-place votes that were earned in the individual voting system. A first-place vote was worth six team points; a second-place vote earned five team points; third-seeded votes were worth four team points, while a fourth-place tally earned three points, with a fifth-place vote earned two points and a sixth-place vote received one point in the team ranking system.

The Monarchs will be facing Drexel in their next match on Monday, February 10 at 7 p.m. at Chartway Arena. For tickets to the upcoming match, visit ynottix.com
