NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University spirit squad will host a pair of clinics in the coming months. The first clinic will be on Feb. 23 and the second on March 7.
The initial clinic on Feb. 23 will be held in the ODU Student Recreation Center and will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is for ages 6-12. The participants will learn about cheers, chants and dance and they will learn from the ODU coaching staff and cheerleaders.
"Our youth camp is designed for kids who want to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading," ODU Cheer Coach Tara Lynne Cannon said. "They will be learning cheers, chants, and a dance from current Old Dominion Cheerleaders and will have the opportunity to perform them at the basketball game on February 26."
The second clinic is March 7 and also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This clinic is for high school and college students and will focus on stunting, pyramids, jumps and more.
"All high school and transfer students are invited to learn collegiate level skills from the current Old Dominion Cheerleading team and coaches. This clinic is designed to prepare cheerleaders who want to continue cheerleading at the collegiate level."
Both clinics are $40 each. Reach out to tcannon@odu.edu for more information.
