Seven Monarch Wrestlers Ranked, Team Second in Latest MAC Rankings

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) wrestling coaches have voted and the league released its December weight class and team rankings on Friday morning, with Old Dominion ranked second behind No. 19 Missouri for the third time in a row. Seven Monarchs were also featured in the conference's individual rankings.
 
Four of the seven individual Monarch wrestlers ranked find themselves in the top-two spots in their weight classes. Senior Larry Early grabs the top spot at 157 pounds, while Michael McGee, Sa'Derian Perry and Shane Jones are each ranked second at 125, 141 and 165 pounds, respectively. 
 
Early is ranked as high as fourth in the latest national polls. Perry is ranked as high as 13th and Jones can be found rounding out the top-20 in the 165 class. 
 
McGee has yet to compete this season, but coming into the 2019-2020 campaign, the 125-pounder was featured in the top-10 on all national polls.
 
In the MAC's 149-pound rankings, Kevin Budock placed fifth, while the remaining two ranked Monarchs, Antonio Agee (184 pounds) and Will Hilliard (285 pounds), both round out their weight-class rankings at sixth. Hilliard is featured in TrackWrestling's 285-pound poll at No. 29. 
 
As a team, Old Dominion garnered 25.0 points, putting them in second behind Missouri's 36.0 points. No. 20 Rider comes in third in the MAC rankings with 22.0, followed by No. 25 Lock Haven, who checks in with 21.0 points. Rounding out the top-five in the conference is Central Michigan, with 19.0 points. 
 
The Monarchs will compete in their first MAC dual meet this upcoming Wednesday, December 18, when they travel to Edwardsville, Illinois to take on SIUE. The Cougars tallied 7.0 points in the conference rankings this month, placing them in 12th out of the 15 teams in the league.
