SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Old Dominion (3-1) women's basketball team will travel to the West Coast to compete in the ShareSLO Holiday Beach Classic, where they will face Cal Poly (Nov. 29) and Idaho (Nov. 30). The Monarchs game against host Cal Poly (1-4) on Friday afternoon will be streamed on Big West TV, while the neutral game against Idaho (3-1) will not be video streamed. Both games will be have a live radio broadcast with Doug Ripley and Susan Montgomery on ESPN Radio 94.1 (Friday) and 1310 The Power (Saturday).
Both Friday and Saturday's games feature first-time matchups between ODU and the two programs.
The last time out, ODU fell to Virginia in overtime by a 56-53 score. The Monarchs led for over 34 minutes but a 10-7 overtime period from Virginia led to the Monarchs first loss of the season. In the game against the Hoos, junior Victoria Morris had a standout performance, posting eight 3-pointers and recording 26 points, a career-high in both categories. The Ohio native is currently 7th in the nation in three-point field goals per game.
About Cal Poly
The Mustangs started the season on a three-game losing streak before earning a win against Sacramento State on Nov. 20. Just two student-athletes in Sierra Campisano and Abbey Ellis have started in all five games this season. Campisano leads the Mustangs offensively, averaging 16.2 ppg. Ellis currently ranks in the top-15 in the country in free throw percentage.
About Idaho
The Vandals head into the holiday tournament with the same record as the Monarchs. They opened the season with a loss but have since gone on a three-game winning streak. The Big Sky team is led by Gina Marxen, who averages 16 ppg. Idaho will face Lamar University on Friday afternoon prior to facing the Monarchs on Saturday.
