CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) released its November rankings for wrestling on Friday morning, featuring eight Monarchs on the Old Dominion wrestling team. As a team, ODU remains second behind No. 13 Missouri.
The Monarchs have two top-ranked contenders, as Michael McGee is the top wrestler in the 125-pound weight class, while Larry Early sits atop the rankings in the 157-pound weight class.
McGee has yet to compete this season, but is still the seventh-ranked wrestler on FloWrestling's rankings. Early won his bracket at the season-opening Battle at the Citadel and has gone 3-0 this season and is ranked fourth in the country in his weight class.
Sa'Derian Perry checks in at the third-ranked spot at 141 pounds, going 6-1 this season, including a win in his bracket at last Sunday's Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Nationally, Perry is ranked 13th in the nation at his weight class, according to WIN Magazine.
The fourth top-three wrestler in the rankings is Shane Jones, who takes the second spot at 165 pounds. Jones currently has a 4-3 record after wrestling in two opens and was defeated by two opponents ranked nationally in the top-10 this season.
Kevin Budock and Will Hilliard check in at fourth at 149 pounds and 285 pounds, respectively, while Antonio Agee (184 pounds) and Tim Young (197 pounds) are each ranked fifth in their weight classes.
As a team, Old Dominion falls 8.5 points behind Missouri for the conference's top spot. Lock Haven rounds out the conference's top-three teams.
