KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Jana Melichova finished in third place out of 114 golfers in the field at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston. As a team, ODU finished in a tie for third out of 22 teams in the three day event at the 6,005-yard Turtle Point Golf Course.
To open the event, the Monarchs posted a 297(+9) to sit in eighth as a team. In their second round of the tournament, ODU posted their best 18-hole round of the year with a five-under 283. After round two, the Monarchs moved up two spots to sit in sixth.
ODU closed the Palmetto Intercollegiate with a 290 (+2), which propelled the Monarchs to a tie for third.
Individually, for the third straight tournament, Melichova led ODU. Sophomore Leah Onosato notched her second top-20 finish of the season finishing in a tie for 19th with a 218. Onosato led the 114 player field in eagles with two. Noemie Sudron posted her best finish this season tying for 29th. Shooting an even-par final round, freshman Pilar Muguruza finished in a tie for 42nd. Anika Bolčíková's tournament was highlighted by a second round 71 (-1).
