Flurry Norman Yanez was one of the most dominating women sailors during her four years at Old Dominon University. A three time All-American, Norman earned that honor in the 1987, 1988 and 1989 seasons.

In 1989 she helped lead the Lady Monarchs to a fourth place finish in the ICYRA Women's National Championships and the Mid Atlantic Championships. She was named the team MVP in 1988 and 1989. In 1985, she was the Laser II National Champion.

Norman skippered the Lady Monarchs to the 1987 ICYRA National Championship as a sophopmore and skippered the Lady Monarhs "B" boat in the 1986 National Championships in which Old Dominon placed third. Norman skippered the Lady Monarchs to a third place finish in the Women's Intersectionals in 1987, and won the 1987 Atlantic Coast Championships. She won three regattas in 1987 and took second in two.

In the 1988 ICYRA Women's Collegiate National Championships, Norman skippered the Lady Monarchs to a sixth place finish. A native of Metairie, LA, she graduated in 1989 with a degree in secondary education.
