NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s tennis head coach, Dominic Manilla, was named the VaSID Coach of the Year for the second straight season on Friday. ODU’s Holly Hutchinson was named to the All-State First Team for singles and doubles. Brooke Pilkington teamed up with Hutchinson on the All-State First Team, as well as garnered Second Team honors for singles. Joining Pilkington on the All-State Second Team for singles was Nataliia Vlasova.
In the 2018-19 season, Manilla earned his 100th career victory as a head coach (Jan. 13, 2019) and brought the program to its highest ever ranking of No. 19 in the ITA National Rankings, as well as received an at large bid to the NCAA tournament. For his efforts at Old Dominion, he has been awarded the 2018 and 2019 ITA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, the 2019 Conference USA Coach of the Year and the 2018 and 2019 VaSID State Coach of the Year.
In the year-end ITA rankings for singles, Holly Hutchinson was ranked No. 81 and was the second highest ranked played in Conference USA. Hutchinson was named to the All-Conference USA First Team in singles. In doubles, Hutchinson and teammate Brooke Pilkington finished the year nationally ranked No. 73. Hutchinson and Pilkington also garnered All-Conference USA First Team accolades for doubles, as well as were named the Co-Outstanding Doubles Team of the C-USA Tournament. Pilkington also earned C-USA Newcomer of the Year and All-Conference USA Singles Second Team honors.
Vlasova was named to the 2019 All-Conference USA First Team for singles and also earned a spot on the All-League Doubles Second Team.
