NORFOLK, Va. – Earning his second All-American honor within a week, Old Dominion outfielder Andy Garriola has been named second team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), as announced by the organization Monday afternoon.

Coming off a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American honor on June 5, Garriola is the only player from Conference USA to be named to the NCBWA list. The C-USA Freshman of the Year hit .328 with 19 doubles, 62 RBIs and 10 home runs. His 62 RBIs are an ODU freshman record and the most by any Monarch since 2011. The California native is the first Monarch to be named to an NCBWA Freshman All-American team. Garriola also picked up All-C-USA First Team All-Conference honors. 

Garriola joins Monarchs Zach Rutherford, Justin Verlander, Tim Hummel and Kevin Gibbs who were also named to two different Freshman All-American teams.
